The talk that we had today really did touch my spirit. My focus has been drifting. Not necessarily on the boys strolling around here because I only talk to one. But the lazy bone is trying to see its way through into my studies. I have respect for you. Not only because you a Gemini(like me lol) but because you have experienced and been done wrong...and have done wrong and you still manage to stay in God and come out more triumphant than before. I sincerely believe that God will try to give you a get it together warning before stuff goes out of whack. You were my warning and I appreciate that. I heard wholeheartedly everything you said to me. From this five weeks I'm not gone lie...you aggravated me sometimes...but it wasn't like a I cant stand her aggravated...it was like a dang, she know what she doing aggravated haha. I like the fact that you're humorous  and understanding. YOu are not close minded and you try your hardest to do right by people....until they play you or attempt to. (I don't think a lot of people are successful at doing that.) I want to thank you for everything. Your talks, the moments where we laugh together; it's the little things that count. I look forward to working with you more and more! See you in the fall!

This research paper is coming right along. I have a good feeling about it. In the library I was focusing and trying to get things done. The biggest problem I think I might have is citing the sources correctly and having enough of them. Other than that I feel like this paper is going good. I was a little let down at the fact that my books were reference books, so I couldn't check them out. So I will be back in the library this evening wrapping up using my sources. My topic is motherhood. I think that what I have to say about it will be interesting.

Argumentative Essay Blog

I feel like this is going to be my best essay by far. Because I feel like I can make the reader believe what I have to say about any topic. Once I get my ideas together, then that's when I will really go in. My theme of motherhood, and what a crucial effect it has on the development of a child. The hard thing that I think is going to be a challenge to do, is think of the counterpart to my theme. The people without mothers who do not stray and become successful. I want this to be my best paper yet. The reason why is because it's a research paper, and those tend to be challenging. Making an argument or claim is a little confusing to me as well. Even though I have one, I have to feel that it is strong enough to know it will be able to stand on it's own. Once I get that going, I'm just going to take it from there and write a damn good research essay.

The Video in Class

The video we watched in class today was straight. I agree with the comment that Destiny made, which was it's all in the mindset. I feel like everybody is going to have positive influences, as well as negative influences. What you do with and how you use those influences is what makes the difference. If kids go out in the world thinking that nothing is going to happen to them and they go to a gas station and machine gun kill the store manager, take some food, and then walk up just when the gas station blows up from the grenade bomb they left inside, then I really think the parents should've been more careful trusting their child to have common sense. Because that doesn't happen. Now the promotion of guns and such, would be more frequent.  Then I can see where the problem could come in at. But still it's all in the mind. A idea turns into a thought, and the thought could easily turn into an action. If children are influenced that much by video games and go against their parents morals especially by doing senseless killing then I can foresee that to be a problem. I mean...I don't really have a solid thought or position on this because this can be a very complex issue to reconcile with. As well as because I don't have children, and I don't really care. But if I did have to take a beginning position, it would be it's all in the mind.

1965- Final Update

Well, this book was something serious. This book confused the heck out of me sometimes and other times it made perfectly good sense. I think I've read some other books by Toni Morrison. She is a good author. Going back to what I think we were talking about yesterday in class...when Professor Wesley had said something about this being a movie. I am into theatre and the arts, so I would love to be in a production of this. As to which character I would like to be, I am still in the thought process about. I mean I could possibly be Sula, but my birthmark is on my lip instead of my eye and eyebrow. I think I could be Nel but I am just not sure. I do know that this would be a really good movie! I would go and watch it. I would hope that they would keep as close to the book as possible. I think then it will be amazing!

1941 News update

We didn't really speak a lot in class about 1941 but this chapter I feel, was almost a easy way out to end the story.  Now that Sula is dead, it's like everything that came together fell apart. Doing this Animoto and poplet was something different. The animoto was kind of too short for me. I wanted to be able to do more than just have thirty seconds. I think it would've helped explain more than just thirty seconds worth. There wasn't really much that could really be said in the animoto. I did like the animoto better than the poplet. The last chapter of Sula, I feel; will wrap everything up. The Sula news updates will finally come to an end.

1940-News Update

Well, considering this is the chapter that Sula dies...I'm wanting to see what the rest of the book has to say. I wonder why Toni Morrison decided to call it Sula if she was going to let her main character die before the end. Since we didn't really discuss it today, I would like to know different ideas that people might've came up with. Me personally, I don't know what to expect. I really do not have any ideas to incorporate into why Morrison let Sula die. I am curious to know, however, how Nel is going to take it. I wonder what her reaction might be. They left off on kind of a bad note before Sula died and I just want to see how it will affect Nel and her thoughts about the whole situation and her friendship with Sula. If I was in Sula's shoes, I would be scared as hell. If I were in Nel's shoes, I honestly wouldn't know how to feel about the situation and Sula's death. I would be scared if I was Sula because Sula did some dirty things. As well as the way she would talk to people sometime. She was evil but then again not evil. She died young. 29- 30 is a young age to die at. I'm ready to see what's next.

1939- News update

The discussion in class was good today. It's funny to see how real life this book is. To think that this situation happened before to real live people. It was crazy to see how Ajax just left Sula like that. I was thinking maybe his ways would have changed considering that they shared that bond time after time after time. But I guess not. He really is a bachelor who is NOT ready to get into a relationship. That makes me wonder why people do that to other people. Sula must have done it to other people and now that it was being done to her it hurts a lot more than what she expected. For Ajax to be as good looking as he is, it makes me wonder if he has ever tried to 'settle down' before. I feel like this is the last time Sula going to let herself feel anything for anyone again. With Nel, Sula knows what she did was wrong. She lost her BEST FRIEND! It may not have hit her as hard as it might've hit some but it hurts. The people work in such a crazy way. It's funny to me how something negative can have positive results. It kind of reminds me of math when two negatives create a positive. It's like the more wrong Sula does, the more good comes out because of her wrongdoing. Not necessarily good for her but for other people. Karma is coming back to Sula, so I want to see what's next from there.

19`37

What we talked about in class about what we would do if we were in Nel's  position, I really didn't know what I would do either. I mean, that is so crazy. That Sula would do that. I wish we had more guy input in our next discussions. They were kind of quiet. But after all was said and done, it is what it is. Sula had changed and I don't think it's for the better. In fact, I'm eager to see what she does next. I also want to see how Nel continues to take things from Jude. Especially with what just happened. I wonder what Sula as thinking when she decided to do that.

1927- news upate

I read some of this chapter last week, but then I kind of forgot about the rest until this morning. But that didn't really work out. I noticed that today was kind of slow and that we didn't really have a discussion in class. We just hit major points. Anyways I really don't know what else to say, considering I only read half the chapter. I really think that this book can be confusing sometime. The fact that Sula and Nel are on the verge of separating is a little crazy. They've been together their whole life. It is going to be different to see how they stay in each other's life. I'm going to read the next chapter.

1923-NEWS UPDATE!!!!!

This book seems to have a lot going on at once. I really get confused sometime. But he discussion in class was really beneficial when we were talking about the different perspectives that the characters in Sula have. When we had asked the question about Sula being a murderer that really got me to thinking. I really do think that Sula would save Nel, but everyone else she would let die. I think that because the book painted a picture of their relationship that they were on a whole different level together than what they were with everyone else. I really felt that Sula was interested in death and what it does to people. I feel like she was also perhaps harboring feelings against her mom considering what was said. But on the same token I wish we would've touched on why Hannah's mom was so nasty to her...and if that had anything to with what she said about Sula, because of her upbringing you know? That is a topic that I would've like to discuss...along with what type of person we can say Eva is. She doesn't add up to. Killing her only son out of love?? I don't know if I agree with that. Anyways this book is getting more and more interesting. Ready for the next chapter!!! oh and p.s....I did A LOT better on my last quiz and today's quiz. BOW!!! LOL.

1921- News

To be real...I don't think I read this chapter because I don't remember nothing about it. BUT... I did redeem myself by reading 1922. And I'm going to continue to read to get back on track. This morning showed me that even though you are a college professor, you still don't want to see everyone fail. I can tell by the numerous warnings you don't like to see people fall to the wayside but at the end of the day you still have to do your job. I respect you for that. In a way it kind of realigned me with my initial ambition to be successful because not reading was NOT  making me successful.  Thanks for taking the time out to really teach. Because I hope I get you in the fall. You really inspire me to be the best without preaching or doing things to where I wouldn't want to participate. You make it MY  choice...instead of yours.

1922-Journal UP!!

In this chapter I got a little confused. Like it talked about Chicken Little dying and the funeral. The funeral was intense. I could feel the sadness, the look on the mom's face was etched into my brain as I was reading how she did her mouth. A part that really confused me was when Sula went into Shadrack's house. Did he rape her? Or was she daydreaming. Another vivid scene that comes to my mind was when Chicken Little and Sula went up in the tree and he felt so big. But after that Shadrack part, it got me to thinking...was the description of the tree part a daydream too.Or did it happen sometime in the past and came to the forefront... Either way this chapter was interesting. And I'm ready for the quiz. BRING IT ON!! lol.

1920 The second chapter news

To be real about it I ended up falling asleep while trying to read this chapter. I was in the bed and it was late and I was trying to read and I got through the first few pages but I ended up waking up to my book in my face. It was tragic. But the part that I did read was interesting. A part that intrigued me was the part about the soldiers which we discussed in class. About the way they were looking at the woman because she was causing problems for them. I feel like that back in those times...I would've got pissed off at anyone who decided to just accept the way blacks were treated back in the day. And if I would've been that woman and the soldiers were looking at me like that I would've got mad because it would not have been ok with me that they were alright with it. I mean everybody has their own opinion and they deal with things differently. But I still wouldn't be too fond of that, because that is just my personal opinion.

1919 the first chapter news

Well for one I didn't know how Toni Morrison looked, and it didn't occur to me to look in the back of the book. But watching that video of her really kind of helped me put in perspective where this book is coming from. Listening to how she was speaking, I was wondering where she got her ideas from and how she decided to come up with this book Sula. I'm figuring as I read more, everything, well almost everything might come together. I say almost because I'm pretty sure I will have more questions from answered questions. As far as the book is concerned it's good so far. Shadrack is crazy but I'm intrigued by that. I want to see what goes on in his mind a little more because everyone thinks different, and I'm kind of curious to see where the possibilities might go.
